Next Big Entertainment, the development studio behind BioShock Infinite, is in talks with the developers behind the upcoming BioShock game, the studio revealed on Twitter on Friday.
The studio is in negotiations to be the developer of the next generation BioShock and has been in talks to work with BioShock creators Cliff Bleszinski and Ken Levine, the developer told GameSpot.
The BioShock franchise has been around for over 20 years, but BioShock: Infinite is the first BioShock installment to be developed entirely for the next-gen platform.
The game will launch on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2018.
The developers are currently in talks about adding new platforms for the sequel, which they hope to ship in 2019.
“BioShock Infinite is a great franchise that is a cornerstone of our company, and we are eager to bring it to the next level,” the developer said.
“We are excited to continue to work on next generation console games with BioShock developers, and look forward to working with our fans on the next iteration of BioShock.”
